Pittsburgh struck first when Alec Bom hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, but Brian Reynolds evened the score with a tying two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth.
After the Phillies scored twice in the top of the seventh, Reynolds’ RBI single in the bottom of the seventh and Gonzalez’ sacrifice fly in the eighth tied the game again.
In the bottom of the 10th, leadoff hitter Josh Palacios hit a two-run home run to put the game out of reach.
Palacios had the best day of his life, hitting his first career grand slam on his twenty-eighth birthday.
