Pittsburgh rallies past Philadelphia with ‘only’ Choi in the lineup

The Pittsburgh Pirates swept their in-state rivals, 토스카지노 the Philadelphia Phillies. Ji-Man Choi came off the bench.

Pittsburgh won 6-4 at home against the Phillies on July 31 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. With the win, the Pirates took a 2-1 series lead and improved to 47-58. Philadelphia is 56-49.

Choi, who was scratched from the start in favor of left-hander Christopher Sanchez, pinch-hit with runners on second and third in the bottom of the eighth, but was stranded on a grounder to first base. It wasn’t enough to bring in the tying run.

What Choi didn’t do, the next batter did. Nick Gonzalez hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in the tying run and tie the game at 4-4.

Choi was replaced by shortstop Alyssa Williams on defense in the top of the next inning.

Pittsburgh struck first when Alec Bom hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, but Brian Reynolds evened the score with a tying two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth.

After the Phillies scored twice in the top of the seventh, Reynolds’ RBI single in the bottom of the seventh and Gonzalez’ sacrifice fly in the eighth tied the game again.

In the bottom of the 10th, leadoff hitter Josh Palacios hit a two-run home run to put the game out of reach.

Palacios had the best day of his life, hitting his first career grand slam on his twenty-eighth birthday.
