Reporter Son Sang-won = The Mudeung Stadium remodeling, which has memories of the professional baseball dynasty Haitai Tigers, is expected to be completed in the first half of the year.
On the 13th, the city of Gwangju announced an implementation plan for the construction of a climbing center among the Mudeung Stadium remodeling projects.
The overall remodeling progress rate is currently 87%, and the city of Gwangju predicted that it would be completed in the first half of the year after completing the climbing field near the main seat, artificial turf, and finishing work.
This project is to demolish some of the bleachers at the baseball field and build a new amateur baseball field at the cost of 48.9 billion won from the government and city. 안전놀이터
It is expected that a two-story (1,037 parking spaces) parking lot will be created in the basement to alleviate the chronic parking problem of the nearby KIA Champions Field in Gwangju.
Sports and convenience facilities and walking trails will also be built around the stadium and the space where the inside and outfield bleachers are removed.
Gwangju City initially promoted construction with the goal of completion by the end of 2020, but it was delayed due to the removal of underground bedrock and delays in supply and demand of materials.
Mudeung Stadium was built in 1965 and since the launch of professional baseball in 1982, it has been used as the home stadium of the ‘Tigers’ from Haitai Tigers to KIA Tigers.
In the 2000s, it became a target for players to avoid due to old facilities and frequent injuries.
With the establishment of the Gwangju KIA Champions Field, no more professional baseball games were held after the game on October 4, 2013.
