Lance Stephenson recently gave an interview to the New York Post. In it, he revealed that he is pursuing a return to the NBA.

Stevenson entered the NBA with the 40th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. He was an unheralded second-rounder. However, Stevenson began to make a name for himself with his versatility.

In his third year as a starter in 2012-2013, Stephenson averaged 8.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. He followed that up with a career-high 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists.

Stevenson was also known for his antics, and his temperamental nature led to friction with many, most notably his ingenious mind games during games, where he whispered in the ear of superstar LeBron James.

Stevenson retired from the NBA after the 2021-2022 season, and he now plays basketball in Puerto Rico. But Stevenson hasn’t given up on the NBA.

“Now that I’m playing in Puerto Rico, I really miss the NBA. I haven’t left the NBA. My goal right now is to get back to the NBA and show everybody that I’m ready.”

As for where he’d like to play, he mentioned teams with New York ties.

“I would love to play for the Brooklyn Nets or the New York Knicks,” Stevenson emphasized.

Stevenson, who was born in Brooklyn, showed his talent for basketball as a schoolboy. He attended Abraham Lincoln High School, which has produced NBA guards such as Stephon Marbury, and made a name for himself among New York basketball fans with his explosive scoring ability.

However, it’s unclear if Brooklyn and New York would consider adding Stephenson. Brooklyn is led by young players like Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson. New York doesn’t have a veteran in Evan Fournier.

It remains to be seen if Stephenson will return to the NBA and show off his air guitar skills.
